Lacking Sleep
Every morning at 7am I realize again in a most visceral way that I'm most emphatically not a morning person.

Yesterday was spent up at UVic. I had intended to get some work done in both my math and particle physics classes, but I only ended up getting the math done after arguing with the people at the pro-life booth for nearly an hour and a half. It's odd asking someone who is trying to "inform" others on the topic of abortion if they believe that a blastocyst constitutes human life, only to be asked: "what in the heck is a blastocyst?"

[Edited when I caught myself spelling, 'blastocyst' as 'blasticyst'. Go team!]

Michael, why is it so difficult to accept the fact that God loves you and expresses an obsessive interest in your sexuality?

You see, in our modern society where we believe we can do whatever we want except in a few places, which are obviously influenced by lingering Christian morality, it's just politically unpopular to think that killing babies or old people is wrong, and that's why you think that. No one in pro-choice is divided on any issues. The Left either makes you believe that it's okay to kill any baby, regardless of its stage of development, or you are socially ostracized, so maybe it isn't even your fault that you believe it's okay to kill babies and old people.

You see, you may not even know that you think it's okay to kill babies. You might think a blastocyst isn't a baby, which it is, because God has already put life into it and a soul, because, Michael, the only thing it can become at that point is a human: it is inevitable (barring spontaneous abortion, which is okay because it isn't humans doing it and it's natural). But even if we suspend disbelief for a moment and take your word for it that a blastocyst isn't a baby, if we make it legal to murder blastocysts then eventually people will just start murdering babies in later stages of development, then infanticide will occur, then it will become okay to murder children into their teens, then their early twenties, and eventually we will end up in a world where murdering anyone is just as acceptable as saying hello, just like it was before Christianity.

Did I miss any?

No, you missed:
Pro-Lifer: Well, a cell, or collection of cells becomes human being once it has complete DNA.
Me: So, by your definition, each one of the cells in my body is a human being?
Pro-lifer: Uhm....

P: Any cell (or collection of cells) which will potentially grow into a full-grown human is itself human.
M: This reminds me of the Monty Python song, "Every Sperm is Sacred". Seriously though...does that mean that I commit a mini-holocaust when I scratch my head, or don't donate to the sperm bank?
P: Erm....

You also missed me getting schooled on knowing the number of chromosomes in a sperm (I thought it was 46 'cuz im teh smrtz). They then asked me what my major was and I said, "biology--just kidding; janitorial studies." I think they bought it.
